Burr....And A White Christmas Find -There Is a Beauty to Snow... Until the Shovel Comes Out

There Is a Beauty to Snow... Until the Shovel Comes Out

There is a beauty to snow.

The mystery of millions of cold little flakes, each one wonderfully unique... falling together to form a uniform blanket of white that glistens from a light within.

There is a beauty to snow —
as you peer at it through a window, warm in your house, wanting to feel it's cold.

There is a beauty to snow —
as you step through it, each flake clinging to you, chilling you to the bone yet enticing you to play.

There is a beauty to snow —
as you lay upon it, moving your arms to make snow angels... and looking back at your impression, the one the snow let you leave within it.

And that’s... where the beauty stops.
Ha ha.

Because the moment the snow shovel enters the chat — with its backbreaking bend, the crick in your spine, and the heating pad that follows — snow suddenly loses its charm.

They told us today’s snow would be light. No wind. No problems. An inch or two.
They even gave it a name: Winter Storm Freyr.

Wait — we’re naming snowstorms now? I mean, if I get up and it’s snowing... it’s snowing. I don’t need a Norse god to tell me I’m about to be cold, wet, and annoyed.

And about that name — Freyr?
Here’s what I found:

Freyr (from frawjaz, meaning “lord”) is one of the most important gods in Norse paganism, associated with sacral kingship, virility, prosperity, sunshine, and fair weather — often pictured as a phallic fertility god. He bestows peace and pleasure on mortals. (Especially Swedish ones.)

Um... fair weather?
Really? Look out the window, Mr. Weather Guy.

Anyway — we’ve passed five inches of snow here already. I’ve shoveled once and will have to do it again. But before round two, I did brave the white abyss to check out my local Bath & Body Works SAS once more.

And what did I find?

The elusive White Barn Christmas 2012 candles — once said to be sold out on Black Friday — now sitting on the candle table for $10.00. That Apple Spruce scent? Lovely. I already enjoy it in the scentportables.

So, I picked some up, used a coupon, and got three for $20.00.

Yesterday, I hit another SAS out of town and got two receipt adjustments — Sparkling Strawberry dropped to $4.00 (I paid $14.00 πŸ˜…), and the “I Heart Lucky Dogs” gift set I’d paid $21.50 for was now half off. I love the PocketBac holder in that set, which wasn’t sold separately. Totally worth it. Free item? Yes, please. The puppy socks and scentportable? Perfect gifts.

And yes, I did get more PocketBacs. Because if 100 is good, then clearly 300 is better... right?

New scents:
California Poppy, I Love Shopping, I Love You, Cilantro Peach, Wildberry Dahlia, Bee Well, and Bee Nice.

I grabbed pink glitter PocketBac holders for $0.25 — perfect little Valentine’s Day gifts. Also found five home fragrance oils for $2.00 each (Bahama Fizz, Lilac Blossom, Pineapple Mango, and Sunrise Lagoon), and added three more Strawberry & Peach Glitter Sprays to the stash.

Fingers crossed tomorrow brings more sun and less snow. I’m still on the hunt for CO Bigelow Peppermint Tingle bar soaps, and every store near me seems to be out.

Maybe everyone’s just chasing their white cool tingles somewhere other than their snowy walkways...

Much love,
