Specialty retailer Bath & Body Works Inc. is looking to boost revenue by expanding its product lineup to new categories including laundry and haircare.
Shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo will be introduced at about 560 of the chain’s 1,810 locations and online in July, Bath & Body Works president Julie Rosen said during a conference call. Laundry-related items will come in the fall. The company has also targeted the men’s and wellness categories.
“Our customers want to experience their favorite fragrances in multiple forms,” Rosen said after the company reported quarterly earnings that topped analysts’ estimates. Bath & Body also boosted its profit forecast for the year.
Bath & Body Works shares jumped as much as 11%, the biggest intraday gain since November, in New York trading on Thursday. The rise pared the stock’s decline to about 12% so far this year, compared with a gain of roughly 9% for the S&P 500 Index.
