Yesterday, I shared on Instagram that I saw the new marketing regarding the change of the body care sale promotion beginning today. Please note that not ALL stores are affected by this sale, but most are. Some stores still will have the buy three get two sale, and some stores are offering $5.00 off body care items.
The comments on the upcoming promotion change were not joyful. The change from the buy three get three (or two) free - buy two get one free has currently become - buy three, get one free. Now granted, no business is required to give anyone anything for free...we all get that and I, personally love that Bath and Body Works has chosen that as its usual promotion...pretty much at any given time. Which makes the items half off when its a b/3g3.
The incremental product price increases we have been seeing inches our sale pricing up more and more so when we hear that a change was made to a sale...we notice. Now to buy fragrance mist priced at $16.50 each we must spend $49.50 before tax to get four. That makes each mist now cost $12.37 with that promo...up from a $8.25 cost with a b3/g3.
A friend mentioned that some of the reason for this change in promos was because of a limited supply of product currently in stores ( and online it would seem). Transportation issues, theft in warehouses ( where the boxes are opened, product removed and then the boxes resealed), and warehouse production still at only 25% due to COVID are also playing a role. We have seen and heard this happen before, even with candles and wallflowers. Of course, there is so much more to making business decisions; all of the unseen things that go into making a brand as successful as they are. But as a consumer...a customer who shops faithfully in stores and online, we are NOT thinking about anything except getting some new in our hands. And we do not like change. That's it.
Will I be shopping for body care? I don't need anything that is in stores now body care wise. Sure there are bunches of New that came out that I would WANT...but I don't need them.
I am going through the excess I have...tossing out those things that have gone bad way too soon ( $109.50 worth of travel size items so far last week)...selling off the doubles and triples I have...and using (and enjoying) scents I haven't used in some time. When the new Summer fragrances become available for all of us to buy I will check those out then and determine which I want. And hopefully by then, the sales promos offered will resume to our old standbys.
