Bath & Body Works | Coco Shea Release | New Directions

I wanted to do a quick post of some thoughts after reading some of the comments that were made on Monday when the new Coco Shea collection released, and released with a 2/$20 price point.

It would seem, I was told, that when Camille McDonald retired back in January, the person now in charge...whom I believe is Ron Ford....started to implement a different vision for Bath and Body Works stores.

January began the first month we saw the bounce back coupons given out at the checkout disappear in almost all stores. {a few stores are still handing them out}.

It would seem that this new "vision" will be that of turning the store that we love into a more high end boutique feel kind of store.

One with products made with higher quality ingredients.

More Exclusive Fragrance choices.

And less of the same fragrances returning every season.

The candles and accessories are to become more "elevated" as well.

Coco Shea was the launch of the Brand New Bath and Body Works.

With Now more focus on elevated product performance.

And in hearing the March 12th Floor-set name that will release the Paradise Signature Body Care Collection -
" Best Beach Skin"
I think that is exactly what they are working on.... More of what the products can do for your skin.

So what does the ole die-hard Bath and Body Works fan with yearnings for products loved of yesteryear do with all of these new changes? Visit the store and be sure to try the new when it comes.  Like I mentioned in my Review posts earlier today...I almost didn't bother with the Coco Shea Collection.  And it wasn't the price point that bothered me actually. Sure, yes two for twenty dollars isn't cheap when you are thinking about lotions and shower products from the store we get super sales on our fragrances occasionally. Yes, we get spoiled. But if you try them and they are different and they do what they claim they should do and make a difference in your skins overall feel and look...maybe they are the thing you treat yourself with.

I appreciated the coupon that came out helping drop the price a few dollars so that I could try a few of the forms available. I ended up getting five products while trying almost all of the others in store. I tried to chose the products I don't always buy.

Exactly what we will see in the future and how will it all work?  I don't know...I am not sure.
But I am curious.
And tonight I smell like Coco Shea Honey because I was.

Review:
I purchased these two items in the second Bath and Body Works store I visited on Monday for two reasons.  I was adding other little items to my purchase and I wanted to make my purchase meet the thirty dollar mark to use my coupon...and I was curious about the Cucumber Aloe Gel Lotion.

The thing about Aloe Gel Lotions that I consider before buying them is how will they feel on my skin as they dry and if they get wet.  More often than not, the Aloe Gel Lotions are used at summertime to calm my sun baked skin because the initial application of it is quite cooling.  But they seem, to me, to sit atop of the skin and they don't completely disappear into it. So as soon as I get it wet in the shower I find it gloopy.  Okay, maybe not the best way to describe what I mean but I can still feel it on my legs as I wash. And as it rinses off it makes the shower slippery.

I also want a Aloe Gel Lotion to smell good...I don't need it to be too overly fragrant. This Cucumber scent is a perfect refreshing lightly scented lotion that will condition my skin as I need it and cool it off too.  I grabbed one jar to use in the upcoming months and I do recommend it.  The upcoming Paradise Body Care Collection will also bring back the Gel Lotions so watch for them if you love gel lotion.

The Coco Shea Coconut Richly Nourishing Lightweight Body Oil  offers 24 hour moisture the label reads. This one I am still trying out. I am not a big fan of being greasy...I mean, who really is.  I don't want the lotions and moisturizing products I put on my body to leave residue everywhere in my home and car and clothes.  I tried a Body Oil Lotion once that left greasy marks on my car seat where the back of my legs rubbed in the summer.  No fun.

I tried this in store when the assistant manager demoed it on me -just a dab, and again here at home.  The scent is a beautiful light coconut fragrance and it triggered a beach like, summer sun tan lotion on a hot day,  kind of feel fragrance.  Not the strong, someone is using suntan oil, scent.

On my skin it started out as oil, and a little does go a long way.  It does absorb into my skin but the feeling of it was quite different than the body lotions I love in the Coco Shea Collection.  My skin was soft as silk (my hands) but I kept looking at the sheen on my skin hoping it wasn't going to be greasy.

I did purchase one bottle of this and I am going to keep it to try it more, after a shower...when I am home in sweat pants casual, etc. just to get a true feeling for it.  I think it will also be great on summer legs!

Review:

Having found that I love the honey fragrance from this collection, my next step was to try both the body lotion and body butter.  As you know, they are somewhat different in formulation, to me...with body lotions absorbing deep into your skin quickly leaving a soft finish and not a greasy feeling while body butters tend to be more emollient in texture and there can be a bit of noticeable shine (slickness) left on the skin.

I tried the Seriously Soft Body Lotion in store first after the Bath Jelly and it was love at first try for me.  It absorbed deep into my hands and arms and I was left with pure softness.

I grabbed the Ultra Conditioning Body Butter for testing later as I tend to save those kinds of products for my feet and legs.

Today while testing the two out again on my hands the body lotion gave the same awesome performance as it did it the store and is one I would highly recommend. Its formulation is not at all watery and pumps out a nice thickness so a little goes a long way.

The Body Butter did as I expected it would.  It is rich and delish and left a slight sheen on my hand and arm where it was applied.  This too I would highly recommend as a treatment for your heels, feet and legs.  Arms too of course but just know it is Rich in Moisture.

Bath & Body Works | New Coco Shea Honey Ultra Conditioning Bath and Shower Jelly | Review

My review of Bath and Body Works newest release:
Coco Shea Honey Ultra Conditioning Bath and Shower Jelly

Review:

Truth be told, I didn't go into my Bath and Body Works stores to buy any of the new Coco Shea Collection because I didn't think it was really something I needed, wanted or even wanted to try.  When I entered the mall from the side door I could immediately smell the Bath and Body Works store there and the scent was Watermelon Lemonade.  That, was a perfect companion to these new Cucumber, Coconut and Honey Scents and that drew me in for a closer look.

There were three different fragrance choices but within each fragrance there were a few different product form choices and that made it interesting for me.

I rolled up my sleeves and made my way over to the honey table first.

I guess it was because they designed the Coco Shea Shower Jelly jar to look like a little jar of honey, I had to try that first. I popped off the top carefully not sure what to expect and there is a clear plastic sanitary sleeve and under it was what I can only say at first glance looked like honey scented/colored gelatin. And I say gelatin like because that is how it moved in the jar, as one unit of product and tiny little cubes when separated from it.
I grabbed a little white spatula and when I scooped it out it was smooth but still gelatin-like and I tried not to drop it as I made my way to the sink. A bit of water added to it and I knew I had something pretty interesting here.  The suds were smooth and felt good on my winter skin hands even without a shower scrubby. And the product rinsed clean off of my hands and they were super, super smooth and lightly scented afterward.

For me it was a true scent of honey...natural but not strong and fake smelling.  I don't want to walk around smelling like a jar of food product and it was nothing like that.  More of a spa-like feel fragrance that slowly dissipates.

Walking back to the table where there were only three or four bottles available I proceeded to toss one into my blue shopping bag to try it better at home.

What would have been great (but would have added to the price of course ) would have been a honey beehive kind of spoon accessory to get the product cleanly out of the jar. {I am all about the accessories of things} But a clean white plastic spoon worked perfectly for my test at home and will be how I get it out for a shower.

And as you can see in the photos, the spoon pierced the product and slowly fell off of it like honey back into the jar.
A bit of water added to the few drops of product on my hands and you can see the kind of suds it was making again, without a shower scrubby.  I can only imagine the bubbles with one.
After rinsing cleanly off, my hands feel so soft and lightly scented.

Would I recommend this?  Yes, I would say grab a jar (or two) and try it for yourself as a luxury type of product.  We have so many shower gels and body washes that have become part of our every day body care maintenance so breaking them up with a different kind of product every now and again is a well deserved break of the bath routine.

After using this, the Coco Shea Honey Seriously Soft Body Lotion was next on my list.
