Bath & Body Works | Re: Yesterday's Merry "Chunky" Cookie Candle

When I shared here the photos of the Merry Cookie Candle in a store, I shared because it was something I saw, and made note of it for myself - here on my blog archive.  I would have to look but whenever there is something like this, I make note of it...so if in the future I wanted to remember there is a post reminding me of it.  But it is also a heads-up for those shopping perhaps for a gift to check out the candle in case the aesthetic matters to you as well.

And truth be told, it's only as big of a deal and someone wants to make of it.  I made a joke...I like my candles like my peanut butter -- without chunks.

Or the check pour room vat.

I did not know what the candle smelled like because I cannot smell much of anything in the stores.   My choice.  So some blind buying things so far has not netted me a regretful purchase, because I stick to what I know.

I know Merry Cookie...and I was surprised to see the wax a darker color.  I had no idea it joins the list of jalapeno scented items.  The Pumpkin Pecan Waffles items were so strong, and so off when I smelled them through a mask (I wear two), I did confirm what the manager suspected.

My photos were shared on Reddit -  need I say more. Ah, DM's are fun.

I too have made candles in my younger days...I've never had frosting happen.  I have purchased tons of candles - to burn, to save and stored properly, it never happened.  I have candles that have that crystals looking stuff on them from Bath and Body Works.  I have had candles from Bath and Body Works that the oils have come to the surface over time. I understand the workings of wax and production of candles.

I was surprised yesterday when I grabbed the candle and turned it around to see the aesthetic of it off.  I checked another, and then the rest.  I was planning on gifting a few of the Merry Cookie (because of that cute bakery like label), and one for myself but I didn't like how the candles looked.  That's it.

When I buy things I do think of the big picture too.

'What if' after the holiday passed I thought I would sell it off if I didn't use it.  Clear out some of the excess candles I have...Not everyone wants to hit it with a hairdryer to make it look pretty again.  I don't.  I shouldn't have to.  And a buyer certainly would not.

I looked at the candles, mentioned it to the staff, and made my choices for other candles.  It may be fine to burn, great...but for the big picture --- it wasn't a "fine for me purchase"....and I showed that by not buying it.

If you do....enjoy!
