Surprise Delivery & A Few Bumps Along the Way
I was surprised (and excited!) to see that my Bath & Body Works order from Sunday was already out for delivery today! While I much prefer shopping in-store—to keep our malls alive and thriving—sometimes online exclusives nudge us into placing an order.
This time it was the adorable Billie Ducky Cosmetic Bags, three Hot Cocoa & Cream Hand Soaps, two Hot Cocoa & Cream candles, and a bar of Honorable Bar Soap for hubby. I knew the Hot Cocoa & Cream line likely wouldn’t make it to local stores, so I grabbed them for upcoming holiday gifting.
A bit ago, I heard the familiar FedEx delivery thump on the porch and grabbed the box, thanking the driver. Hubby and I opened it together—only to find one of the soap pumps snapped off, and both candles… shattered.
Now, I’ve shipped products for over half my life, and I know: if you toss lighter items in with heavier ones without proper padding or protection, you’re almost guaranteeing damage. That one thin sheet of bubble wrap at the bottom? Not enough. The candles arrived boxed, yes—but the boxes didn’t do much to protect the glass.
Thankfully, Lewis from customer service was incredibly kind and helped me with a replacement order that’s already on the way. I bagged up the box, safely tossed the broken candles as instructed, and cleaned up all the glass—but the Hot Cocoa & Cream scent still lingers, sweet and cozy.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a safe arrival of the next batch—especially the Christmas in July Hot Cocoa & Cream candles I’ll be using for my holiday gift baskets.
And yes, I know opinions are mixed on this collection—especially launching during SAS. Some don’t love the design. But I personally like the fun, whimsical concept. If they do it again next year, I’d love to see forgotten fan-favorite holiday scents return and maybe even more playful characters to match.
