For The Record

For the Record — A Word About Sharing and Respect

Last night, after a long, busy day of spring cleaning out the closets (an oh-so-fun task — not), I called it an early night. I curled up on the couch with my husband for a much-needed date night. We caught up on a few shows, and before long, I was ready to drift off.

My nightly routine is simple: check my email, Facebook, and Instagram one last time before bed. Most nights, there’s nothing urgent. Sometimes I use that quiet time to answer messages and questions I may have missed during the day. I do my best — but I’m human, and I don’t always catch everything right away.

Last night, though, two people decided to “poke the bear.”

Now maybe — just maybe — it’s something about me that makes people feel entitled to share their complaints or criticisms. Because I don’t often see those same comments directed at others who blog or share about Bath & Body Works. Sure, maybe I post more often, but still — this double standard stands out.

For a long time, I kept quiet. Rule No. 1 of blogging? Ignore the haters.

And I did — until now. Because enough is enough.

If you come for me, bring a helmet.

Let me be clear: If you feel the need to school me, scold me, or complain about what I choose to share on my pages — the ones I manage, care for, and in some cases, pay for — I have a simple suggestion: Take a hike.

I’m not here to hurt anyone — not the company, not employees, and certainly not the community of fellow fans who enjoy the same things I do. I share what I find because people want to see it. They’re excited. They want to plan, budget, and be part of the experience.

And if you don’t want to see what I post? Don’t look. Don’t follow. Don’t engage.

But don’t — and I mean don’t — try to twist it into something bigger, like blaming me for sharing early info and suggesting that I’m somehow harming the company or the shopping experience. Especially when your “concerns” are clearly meant to stir up others and rally them into your personal grievance parade.

Here’s the thing: Most people won’t join your pitchfork party. Why? Because they want the sneak peeks. They want to see what’s coming next. And they do appreciate the time it takes to gather and share that info.

And no — I don’t work for Bath & Body Works. I’m not affiliated. But that doesn’t mean they don’t see what I post. They do. And they’ve reached out more than once.

I also understand where the information comes from. I’m well aware of training materials, store policies, and what’s considered proprietary. I go out of my way not to share certain things — and frankly, I’m more careful than some people who watermark and post entire internal documents to stay relevant. Some of those people are even employees, sharing in private groups that are anything but private.

Let’s not forget the holiday leak — the viral photo of the daily deal sheet. That didn’t come from bloggers. That came from inside.

So, to those who commented last night — maybe you're employees, maybe you’re not. But you chose to make your accusations publicly. If it was such a deep concern for the company, you could’ve messaged me privately. But you didn’t. You wanted an audience.

Let’s talk about that audience.

This brand is everywhere on social media. They know the power of buzz. They want excitement. They want attention. They want you in the store, buying something special — that little candle, that new lotion — as a treat in an otherwise overwhelming world.

I’ve spent plenty of money at that store. I’ve spent plenty of time building a community of fellow fans who just love to share what they find in their corner of the world and see what I’ve found in mine.

This community is joyful. It’s generous. And it’s growing.

So, if I see something exciting — like a tote that might drop next week for Mother’s Day — I’m going to share it. Not because I want to “spoil” anything. But because I want you to be ready. To save your money. To feel that little jolt of anticipation that makes the everyday a little more fun.

I won’t apologize for that.

If you think sharing ruins the magic, you are welcome to unfollow, scroll past, or stick to official company emails. That’s your right. Just like it’s my right to keep doing what I do — with integrity, with love, and with more support than you probably realize.

Because the truth is, this isn’t just about products. It’s about connection. And in the end, I’d rather be someone who builds that than someone who tears it down.

Bath & Body Works | Reward Program Idea

April 4, 2015

Let me begin by saying I know of no Reward Program currently being thought of or initiated at Bath and Body Works.
This is just simply an idea I have had for a long time now...as I am sure others have had as well, and I just thought I would jot down a few of my thoughts.

Everyone who knows me or reads me knows I have a small addiction to the Bubbles and the Wax.  I mean come on, how could I not?  They surely make it easy with their colored plastic rubber hand sanitizer covers in various themes and critters with matching stickered bottles that we all pay 1.00 for an ounce....

I am drawn into this sudsy web of scented fun....who isn't?

And the more I go, the more I learn.
As a customer, I would go in...buy a wee bit...and leave, thrilled to have that one bounceback coupon...(not even knowing what it was called)  thrilled to have it to save a few dollars the next time.

And for some time I didn't realize I could break up my orders to save if I had a few of those coupons.
Survey Coupons were another life line of savings I also learned quick how to use. The more I save, the more I will spend.

As a blogger, I honed my listening skills as well as visual skills to find out all I could by just the small talk made with other customers as well as workers.  I watched the patterns of deliveries and keep a book of notes, and coupons to help me make the best of the littlest of information because I am no where near a test store.

So I watch...the return process and the exchange process.  I know about the counter at the door that helps the conversion of people to sales to hours and I remind my hubby not to stand there or come in and out a lot. :)

And often I am reminded while digging in my handbag looking for cash to pay, seeing my OTHER stores frequent shopper card (meant to track ALL about me) and thought what if the B had one.

Not that I am looking for anything for free mind you.  I am grateful for ALL that we get as consumers from this company already. I don't think I am entitled at all with an expectation for anything.  I am just surprised that there hasn't been a Frequent Shoppers Card from them yet.

Today I was doing routine things here in my office and got bored so I thought I would jot down a few ideas I had for it.

Yes, yes I know, no one wants more little cards to carry or swipe do dads jingling off of their keys.  Nor do they want a company to know too much about them.  Sadly, though, they already do.

Every time we shop and add our phone number and email address it tags us to what have we purchased.

It sends the information of where we live...(home phone) to generate those coupons in the mail for every floor set and our email gives us those offers.

A lot of times emails are based demographically and what I may get may not be what the west coast store shoppers get.  We see that a lot at the holidays.

So, why not share that in which we share... and make some aspects for us easier.

I would love a card that:

1. you get in a store and you register it online. (if you can). I know not all consumers have computers...something I hear in my stores.  In that case maybe a phone call can be made to add the information.

2. you put in your name, address, and birthdate. If you plan to use it for returns and exchanges, maybe an id number.
The stores have access to our credit card info, if you didn't have a receipt they can now look up your transaction with the swipe of your card.

3. if your making a purchase, you can swipe the card...and it knows who you are...no information needed at the end of the sale.

4. if your making an exchange or return, again, swipe the FS card and it knows who you are and even when you made the purchase.
I know that would put an end to the whole... I don't have my receipt exchanging mess. And make us all accountable for our actions.

5. year to date spending would be interesting to see....(or not).

6. And some kind of reward benefit like free shipping on website purchases would be great.

Having a card would slow down some of the freebie over do's we see on social media. One per customer would be one, per customer.

You know what I mean.  A free FFM with any purchase coupon and someone posts a picture of 30 of them with 30 fifty cent PB holders next to them.

And if you have noticed lately,  B&BW is getting away from the Printed coupon in the emails it would seem.  Now its a barcode you show at the store to be swiped or a code for online.

Like  said, I haven't heard anything about any Frequent Shoppers anything coming or being thought of.  It was something that crossed my mind so I wrote it out.
So let's continue the conversation about this on my Facebook page and let me hear what your thoughts are on it.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

Bath & Body Works | Mother's Day Tote Bag | Purchase with Purchase

April 4, 2015

How exciting!
I got to see the new Mother's Day Tote coming as a purchase with purchase and it looks awesome.  I am so glad we are not getting another bucket.  Don't get me wrong, I do like a bucket of products, but the bucket for me is a waste as I clean out the products and toss out the bucket because it has a cardboard bottom.

Here is what we will get:
$20 with a $40.00 purchase....No I don't know when exactly it will be out...yet.

Bath & Body Works | Southern Sweet Hand Soap Collection | Review | Spring 2015

April 3, 2014
Here are the upcoming Hand Soaps from the Southern Sweet Collection at Bath & Body Works coming out April 13th.  These are available in both Gentle Foaming and Deep Cleansing.  I prefer the deep cleansing formulation so that is what I purchased.

WATERMELON LEMONADE

Two Great things from the South: Watermelon and Lemonade
Welcome to the beautiful South and enjoy a tall glass of watermelon lemonade.  Cool off with a refreshing spritzer of watermelon and freshly squeezed Meyer lemons.

For me, this hand soap was a must have.  I really enjoy the candle in this scent and so far the pocketbac hand sanitizer and this soap is not a disappointment.  You get the scent of the watermelon and the sour of the lemon. All joined together perfectly. With a matching nourishing hand cream also coming out, hand care never smelled so good!

SAVANNAH MINT JULEP

Sit for a spell and enjoy a cool drink on the veranda
Welcome to the beautiful South and enjoy a Mint Julep afternoon.  Savor a fresh batch of lime, sugarcane and fresh cucumber

Another delicious scent you will love and will not resist buying. A crisp, fresh scent, the lime is sweet but not over done.  I don't smell the cucumber myself...just a clean fragrance.

GEORGIA PEACH

Nothings sweeter than a Georgia Peach
Welcome to the beautiful South and enjoy deliciously sweet Georgia Peaches.  Experience a juicy peach with hints of orange blossom and honeysuckle nectar.

On cold sniff all I smell is a juicy ripe peach, you know that scent after you take your first bite?  Sweet yet citrus. I don't smell any floral notes at all.  This is a perfect peach scented hand soap!

BOURBON STREET BUTTERCREAM

A decadent salute to the flavors of New Orleans
Welcome to the South and enjoy a taste of New Orleans. Indulge in a decadent dessert of golden butterscotch and whipped vanilla bourbon cream
I don't drink, so I have no idea what Bourbon smells like.  What I do know is butterscotch and vanilla and this scent is yummy times ten.  It is creamy and you can smell the sweet, richness of the  butterscotch and vanilla cream blended together. This, for me is a definite stock up on scent.  And I love that packaging...perfect for birthday gifts!..as it doesn't go on the hips!

SOUTHERN LEMON CHIFFON

This addictive dessert is a sweet southern tradition
Welcome to the beautiful South and enjoy a true southern treat. Delight in a heavenly recipe of lemon, powdered sugar and whipped cream.

Love, Love, Love this!  For me this is a definite creamy lemon treat.  Another I would put in a gift bag.

MAGNOLIAS AND MIMOSAS

Flowers bloom bigger in the South
Welcome to the beautiful South and enjoy a fragrant bouquet.  Breathe in magnolia petals blended with sweet mimosa and creamy sandalwood.

The sandalwood softens the strong floral notes of the magnolia, which makes this a very unusual and lovely fragrance.  I find myself opening the bottle over and over again to smell it.  Love this!

Having bunches....okay....really a lot of Bath and Body Works Hand Soaps, I know I don't need another one.  But every month another collection comes out and I go to the store hoping I won't love them....and I do end up coming home with a few new scents.  When I read what the names were going to be for this new collection I thought I wouldn't be getting all of them...maybe just a few.
All six are winners.  And don't forget there are matching hand creams and pocketbacs too!

Bath & Body Works | New Arrivals

April 2, 2015

I was able to find out what the new Signature Scent is going to be for May.  As shown here, it will be called
Tahiti Island Dream
I have no information on the scent notes yet as this isn't suppose to be even known until Monday the 13th but as soon as I hear I will post them.
This packaging is so pretty, I am looking forward to seeing these in person.
I had no idea as to what it was going to be.  Someone posted on social media places saying an old design from last year- Seaside Escape- was going to be this Mays new scent and the designer had slipped it out.  The label on the TMC gave it away as it wasn't happening.

These are one of the designs of the scent portables I shared earlier this week.  I decided to get them today so I can have four before they sell out when they launch.  They are too cute.

B&BW is going to offer us Beautiful Pink Ribbon for our gift bag needs for Mother's Day.  Loving this.
This new wallflower birdcage is very pretty and very delicate.

The upcoming body lotions were actually ringing up at the sale price today.

The new hand soaps are filtering into the back rooms getting ready to wow us.  I did smell all of them today and they are awesome. Especially the Buttercream and the Watermelon Lemonade.
And tomorrow all of the others in store currently are on a flash sale of $3.00 a bottle.  Or actually $2.00 after the 10 off of $30 coupon with a ten bottle purchase.

And the shea and fruit body scrub is also wonderful.  Priced at $14.50

Bath & Body Works | Southern Sweet Signature Fragrance Four | Thoughts

April 1, 2015

I notice as I get older my tastes seem to be changing.  When I was younger, my collection of fragrances was small.  At the time, there were certain scents that all the girls wore..." loves baby soft", Jovan Musk...  yes, I know I am dating myself....and most who read me have no idea of these scents.
At the time..it was the norm. All the girls smelled the same.

I tried to wear a lot of them, Lord knows I did, and my bodies chemistry disagreed with most.  So I picked out a few others that didn't turn bad on me and they were my signature scents...if a kid in high school had a signature scent.

Years later and enter Bath and Body Works and almost every month I found I can get a different named scent to try.  Sometimes they are slight tweeks of older scents, sometimes just renames, and occasionally they are different enough to be thought of as new.

Last years Rome Honeysuckle and Capri Citrus were two that definitely worked on me and I was thrilled to have something new...that didn't give me a headache...and didn't smell like everyone else.

And with every month that passes, there is always another fragrance to try...themed with the time of year it comes out.

Coming up in the next week or two B&BW is releasing four new scents in their applicably named:
Southern Sweet Collection.
Signature Fragrances

Bourbon Strawberry and Vanilla
Bourbon Vanilla, Garden Strawberry, Apricot Nectar,
Pink Jasmine, White Oak

Georgia Peach and Sweet Tea
Georgia Peach, Sweet Tea, White Nectarine,
Apple Blossom, Jasmine Petals

Sweet Magnolia and Clementine
Sweet Magnolia, Fresh Clementine, Blooming
Gardenia, Spring Sandalwood, Golden Honey

Sheer Cotton and Lemonade
Crisp Cotton, Sparkling Lemonade, Wild Gardenia,
Mandarin Blossom, Clean Musk

Having had the opportunity to try a bit of each of these (not the ffm) I thought I would write out a brief review.

Keep in mind, again...we all "wear" scent differently and what I may like or not like today, I may love tomorrow.  And how I perceive scent may differ greatly from anyone else.  I recommend that everyone visit the store when these release and try every scent on to see how they reveal themselves to you.

I found all of these "light" in scent.  Which is a good thing in a way.  Spring is trying her best to finally get springing... and you really don't want a "heavy" fragrance now when winter jackets are coming off and we are wearing less.

I tried the Sheer Cotton and Lemonade first and to me its a redo of Cotton Blossom...lightened...and a bit creamier.  I cannot....ugh...wear cotton blossom...but I own 7 or 8 bottles of it because I love the scent of it sprayed in my closets on coats and linens.  Just not on me.  So this sheer cotton scent is a lighter version, to me.  I am not getting any lemon anything.

And I like it...I just don't love it.

The Bourbon Strawberry and Vanilla is another interesting combination. It's not a super sweet strawberry fragrance as I thought it would be.  The "bourbon" or what ever is in there changes it a bit.  It too was okay.

Sweet Magnolia and Clementine was more floral to me that citrus like.  Perhaps the fragrance mist will wear differently...I am not sure.  Another...okay.

And Georgia Peach and Sweet Tea was very nice on.  Fresh Peach like as if you just bit into one...and it did have me wanting to smell it again.  I did like this.

Now I didn't do a complete ritual to experience the shower aspect of these scents or the Fine Fragrance Mist.  I know from past experience that a lot of the lotions start to smell the same...and there are slight differences when you use a lotion or body cream and then use the mist -as the layers of notes adjust to you.

So for now, these are all okay...nothing that I need to stockpile my cabinets with.

When these release April 13th I would love to know what your fragrance favorites were and what your thoughts were on the entire line.

Happy Scenting!
